Dr Hyunah Cho has extensive experience in academic teaching and workshop facilitation at The University of Otago in Dunedin. Dr Hyunah Cho  has accumulated a wealth of experience in the field of health, particularly in music therapy and psychotherapy. From August 2021 to February 2022, she worked as a Music Therapist at Bradford School in Dunedin, where she provided music therapy sessions to individuals. Prior to this role, Dr Hyunah Cho served as a Support Worker and Music Therapist at CCS Disability Action Otago in Dunedin from April 2017 to September 2022. In this position, she provided music therapy sessions and supported individuals with special needs. From April 2019 to July 2021, Dr Hyunah Cho held the role of Music Therapist and Programme Manager at Dunedin Steiner Wellness, where she provided counselling and music therapy, designed healing programmes, managed the clinical team’s communication, and conducted diagnosis and evaluation of clients’ needs and programmes. Earlier in his career, Dr Hyunah Cho  worked as a Clinical Psychotherapist and Music Therapist at Haneum Neuropsychiatry Oriental Medical Clinic in Seoul, South Korea, from August 2013 to January 2016. Here, she provided psychotherapy and music therapy sessions, diagnosed and evaluated clients’ mental health states according to the DSM 5, and reported therapeutic progress to relevant organizations. Dr Hyunah Cho professional journey also includes roles as a Music Therapist, Psychotherapist, and Music Teacher at Tore Waldorf School and Arts Therapy Centre in Seoul, South Korea, from February 2006 to January 2016.

Dr. Hyunah Cho has received several prestigious awards and scholarships throughout her academic and professional journey. In 2024, she was granted the Korean Festival Grant from the Korean Cultural Centre UK, totaling $6,000, and the Korean Music and Wellbeing Lecture, Concert, and Workshop Series at the University of Leeds, amounting to $12,200. Earlier, in 2020, Dr. Cho received the PhD Publishing Bursary from The University of Otago, valued at $6,750, and Music Research Conference Funding from Massey University & Victoria University of Wellington, totaling $300.
