Prof. Dr. Liqiu Wei has completed more than 20 projects as a project leader, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and National Defense Basic Scientific Research, among others. He has published over 100 SCI papers, with 75 in the past 5 years, and has authorized more than 100 invention patents. He has received 9 awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress Second Prize. He has edited or co-edited 5 Chinese and English books, and has been invited to present 11 international conference reports. Focusing on transient process and control issues of electric propulsion systems, he has discovered a new plasma oscillation mode-excitation/discharge coupling oscillation. He has proposed a theoretical evaluation criteria for in-orbit ignition margin of Hall thrusters, built stabilizing theory for discharge low-frequency oscillation, and provided stable conditions. He has also proposed an integrated design method for in-orbit low-frequency oscillation suppression and monitoring. The research results have been successfully applied to China’s first electric propulsion satellite SJ-17 and were validated in orbit with the first launch of Long March 5 in November 2016.
