PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:
I have had an extensive and distinguished career in academia and advisory roles. Currently, I serve as the Ombudsfunctionaris voor studenten en personeel van de Nederlandse Levensbeschouwelijke Uiniversiteiten (NKLU; UvH; TUK; TUA; PThU) since 2022 and as the Vertrouwenspersoon Wetenschappelijke Integriteit Hogeschool IPabo, Amsterdam/Alkmaar since 2020.
My previous positions include Emeritus Professor in Educational Foundations and Religious Education at VU University Amsterdam since 2013, where I was also a Confidential Advisor on Academic Integrity from 2016 to 2022. Additionally, I served as the Director of the Baltic and Black Sea Circle Consortium & the Institute of Sustainable Education (BBCC ISE) from 2015 to 2018 and as the Ombudsman for Academic Integrity of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from 2014 to 2015.
From 2003 to 2012, I held the position of Professor in Educational Foundations and Religious Education at VU University Amsterdam, during which I was also a Visiting Professor in Philosophy of Religious Education at Saint Petersburg State University, Russia, from 2007 to 2012. I was a member of NOSTER, The Netherlands School for Advanced Studies in Theology and Religion, from 2002 onwards.
My earlier career includes various academic roles at Leiden University, University of Groningen, and other educational institutions, where I contributed significantly to the fields of philosophy of education, social sciences, and pedagogy. I have also held leadership positions such as Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Education and Head of Departments in several universities.
Additionally, I have been involved in teaching, research, and academic administration throughout my career, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing education and research in the social sciences and philosophy.
