Desai Gold medal for being the topper in the university. Throughout his career, Dr. Osuri has been involved in various research and academic activities related to numerical weather prediction and climate studies. He has conducted research on extreme weather events such as tropical cyclones, severe thunderstorms, and monsoon depressions. His work has focused on improving predictions of these events by preparing high-resolution reanalysis through assimilation of observational data into model initial conditions. His research also delves into the impact of land surface processes on weather forecasting and land data assimilation for numerical models. Dr. Osuri has contributed to climate studies on extreme weather events, enhancing understanding in this critical area. His professional experience includes roles as a JRF, Project Associate, and Project Scientist at the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences (CAS), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. He also served as a Sr. Project Scientist at the School of Earth Ocean and Climate Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar. Dr. Osuri has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, NIT Rourkela, from July 2015 to February 2023, and he currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the same department since March 2023. Dr. Krishna Kishore Osuri has received several prestigious awards and honors for his outstanding contributions to meteorology and atmospheric sciences. In 2004, he was awarded the Dr. D. W. Desai Gold Medal and the Sri N. Malanchathen Philip Memorial Prize from Andhra University, recognizing him as the university topper in M.Sc Meteorology. In 2016, Dr. Osuri received the IMS (Indian Meteorological Society) Award for the year 2013-14 in the “Modeling study on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences” category. This award was granted for his paper titled “Improvement of Monsoon Depressions Forecast with Assimilation of Indian DWR Data using WRF-3DVAR Analysis System”. Furthermore, Dr. Osuri was honored with the IMS Award on Application of Satellite data and Remote Sensing in Meteorology (formerly known as the P Krishna Rao Award) for his paper titled “Impact of INSAT-3D/3DR Radiance Data Assimilation in Predicting Tropical Cyclone Titli Over the Bay of Bengal”. Recently, in 2023, Dr. Osuri was selected for the Fred L. and Frances J.
