Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilek Güneş is a prominent scholar in the field of Surgical Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hacettepe University, followed by a Master’s and Doctoral degree in Surgical Nursing from the same institution. Dr. Güneş has been recognized for her significant contributions to nursing research and education, focusing on improving patient care and advancing surgical nursing practices. Her research encompasses topics such as post-operative care, pain management, and patient outcomes in surgical settings. Dr. Güneş has published extensively in high-impact journals and has been actively involved in various professional organizations. Her work not only enhances clinical practices but also influences nursing education and policy development.
Education
Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilek Güneş earned her doctoral degree on January 9, 2018, from Inonu University’s Institute of Health Sciences. Her dissertation, titled “The Effect of Yoga on Quality of Life and Depression in Patients Undergoing Colorectal Cancer Surgery,” was supervised by Meral Özkan. Prior to this, she completed a non-thesis Master’s degree at Inonu University on February 12, 2013. She obtained her thesis-based Master’s degree on March 15, 2006, from Fırat University’s Institute of Health Sciences, with a thesis titled “Evaluation of Job Satisfaction Among Nurses Working at Elazığ Firat Medical Center, State Hospital, SSK Hospital, and Central Health Centers,” under the guidance of A. Ferdane Oğuzöncül. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree from Fırat University’s Elazığ Health Academy, which she completed on June 13, 2001
Administrative Position
Assist. Prof. Dr. Dilek Güneş has held several notable positions at Fırat University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and related institutions. In 2020, she served on the Faculty Board of the Nursing Department. She was a member of the Faculty Executive Board from 2019, and the Education Coordinator for the Nursing Department from 2019 to 2020. Dr. Güneş also acted as the Institutional Coordinator for the Mevlana Exchange Programme starting November 13, 2018.
She has been the Head of the Major Department of Surgical Diseases Nursing within the Nursing Department since 2017. Her contributions to various commissions include serving on the Commission Membership from 2019 to 2021, and as Co-head of the Department from 2019 to 2020. Additionally, Dr. Güneş was a member of the Commission Membership from 2017 to 2018 and the Education Coordinator for the Nursing Department from 2012 to 2015.
Prior to her role at the Faculty of Health Sciences, she was the Education Coordinator and Executive Board Member at Fırat University’s Elazığ Health Vocational School from 2012 to 2014, and served as the Vice Director of the Vocational School during the same period.
