Dr. Sunil Ghatge has extensive research experience in biodegradation and biotransformation processes. Since May 2015, he has been involved in projects such as the biodegradation of polyethylene and pesticides using the bio-photo Fenton approach, production of biomass-derived flavor or fragrance compounds through lignin valorization using thermophilic laccase, biodegradation and biotransformation of herbicides using nitroreductase, and engineering substrate selectivity of ferulic acid decarboxylase. Prior to his postdoctoral work, Dr. Ghatge completed his Ph.D. at the Division of Applied Life Sciences, Synthetic Biotechnology Lab, Gyeongsang National University, South Korea, with a dissertation titled “Characterization of recombinant cellulases and the role of carbohydrate binding modules in the hydrolysis of crystalline cellulose.” He also holds a Master of Science from Shivaji University, focusing on the isolation and characterization of glucose isomerase from Streptomyces griseus, and a Bachelor of Biotechnology from Lokmangal Biotechnology College, where he studied antimicrobial substrate-producing microorganisms.

On 20 Feb 2014, he was honored with the Best Research Paper Presentation Award at Gyeongsang National University for his exceptional work. The European Conference on Educational Research- ECER 2023: Participated in this conference with the theme “The Value of Diversity in Education and Educational Research” in Glasgow, Scotland, from 22-25 August 2023. Joined a symposium within the network of Language and Education, which was organized in collaboration with two other researchers from the Netherlands and Austria. His research accomplishments include holding one international patent, publishing 99 international and 19 national scientific publications, and authoring one international book. Additionally, Dr. Aboshanab has made substantial contributions to the NCBI GenBank database, with 156 gene submissions. His role as Editor in Chief of the Archives of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Ain Shams University and his participation as a peer reviewer for numerous international journals highlight his expertise and standing in the academic community.

Innovations, and Extension Activities:

For nearly two decades, He have dedicated to teaching and researching in the fields of Microbiology and Immunology, as well as related subjects such as Basic, Clinical, and Advanced Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Parasitology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Public Health, and Biotechnology. he students have included both graduate and undergraduate Pharmacy students. Recently, he have been actively involved in facilitating Problem-based Learning (PBL), Case Discussions, and journal clubs for Pharmacy students at Ain Shams University. These activities have required he to delve into various aspects of basic medical sciences, including Microbiology, Immunology, Parasitology, Genetics, and Biotechnology, thereby enriching he understanding of these subjects.
