Assoc Prof Dr Samia El-Didamony graduated from the Zoology department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, with a bachelor’s degree in Entomology in May 2008, ranking first in her department. She completed her master’s degree in the same department in February 2013 and her Ph.D. in Medical Entomology Science on 25th October 2017. Her Ph.D. study focused on using nanotechnology and natural products in cancer treatment. Currently, she works as an associate professor at the Zoology and Entomology Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University.

For instance, she led a research study aimed at formulating an optimized drug formulation to enhance its anticancer properties while minimizing systemic side effects. This formulation was evaluated for its antitumor effects against PC3, with the goal of improving cancer therapeutic protocols. Additionally, Dr. El-Didamony and her team achieved a significant milestone by isolating a fungus from honeybees, identified as Mucor bainieri MK-Bee-2, which exhibited promising anticancer activity against human lung and liver cancer cells. Notably, this fungus demonstrated higher selectivity in cancer cells compared to normal lung fibroblast and oral epithelial cells. Furthermore, she pioneered an environmentally safe electromagnetic fields (EMF) method at an extremely low frequency (50 Hz) for the control of mosquito-borne filariasis. These achievements showcase her commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and addressing critical healthcare and environmental challenges through innovative research.

They obtained their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Urmia University in 2007, where their thesis focused on the “Omentumpediculed musculoperitoneal flap of abdominal wall for Augmentation Cystoplasty.” This early research laid the foundation for their subsequent work. Assoc Prof Dr. Zohre Eftekhari  continued their academic pursuits with a residency (DVSc) in Internal Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tehran from 2009 to 2013.
