Dr. Mihaela Tanase-Opedal completed her Ph.D. in 2011 with a dissertation titled “Extractives in process water from compressive pre-treatment of chips in mechanical pulping” at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Natural Science and Technology (NTNU) in Norway. Her disputation date was on 30.03.2011. Prior to this, in 2006, she pursued a study on “Methods of consolidation, conservation, and restoration of documents on paper support” at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection, “Gh. Asachi” Technical University Iasi, Romania.

Position:

Dr. Mihaela Tanase-Opedal has held various positions in research and science. Since 2020, she has been working as a Senior Research Scientist at RISE PFI in Trondheim, Norway. Prior to this role, she worked at the same institution as a Research Scientist from 2011 to 2020. Additionally, in June 2008, she took on a summer job at Norske Skog Saugbrugs Halden in Norway, where she was involved in a project focusing on mechanical bleaching.

Experience:

From 2021 to 2024, she served as the Work Package (WP) leader for the project titled “Green wax inhibitors and production chemicals based on lignin (LignoWax),” funded by the Research Council of Norway. In the same period (2021-2023), she took on the role of Project Leader for a preliminary study focused on the optimal recovery of chemicals from process water. This project was owned by Rygene Smith&Thommesen AS and received funding from Innovation Norway. In another project from 2021 to 2022, she led a WP for the project “Bærekraftig fiskefôr fra norsk skogbasert biomasse (FôrNor),” which was an IPN project (321588). In this project, she was both the Project Leader and the project owner, representing Synergifabrikken AS. RISE PFI participated in this project as a partner and was also a WP leader. Continuing her active involvement, from 2020 to 2024, Dr. Mihaela Tanase-Opedal acted as the WP leader for the project “Produksjon av Arbacore pellets and fôrprotein fra trevirke (ArbaFeed),” which was another IPN project (ES656466). In this project, she served as both the Project Leader and the project owner for Arbaflame, with RISE PFI participating as a partner and WP leader. In 2020-2022, she led the “FISK” project, part of the EU Project-Interreg Sverige-Norge.

He commenced his academic journey with a B.Sc. in Chemistry with first-class honors from the Department of Chemistry at Arignar Anna Govt.
