Saul Santini completed his PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Florence, Italy, from November 2020 to October 2023. His research involved the development of analytical procedures for the determination of emerging organic compounds, including the analysis of contaminants in fish samples, rodenticides in owl samples, and phthalates in Talitrus saltator samples. He also worked on determining trace elements in cosmetics and assessing their toxic effects on humans. Saul collaborated with the TecnaTox research center at the University of Tarragona on the analysis of microplastics in human and pig intestine samples and monitored microplastic contamination levels in edible mollusks along the Mediterranean coasts. Additionally, he optimized analytical methods for analyzing pesticides in food matrices and participated in environmental monitoring campaigns. Three of his papers are currently under review in international journals.
