Ph.D. (Direct Track) in Mechanical Engineering (2004 – 2008): Obtained from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Her thesis was titled “Cyclic Loading of an Elastic-Plastic Spherical Contact.” B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (2000 – 2004): Achieved with a focus on Biomechanics & Medical Engineering and Mechanics of Materials & Micro-systems/MEMS (Summa cum Laude).

Work Experience;

Dr. Shaymaa Kassab has worked at SKF Company – Engineering Research Center in Houten, the Netherlands, with the following roles: Senior Researcher: Since 2014 – Present. Researcher: From 2009 to 2014.

Research Interest:

Finite Elements Method (development of own codes and commercial packages), Computational contact and fracture mechanics, Fatigue, Creep, Mechanics of polymers (viscoelasticity/plasticity), Diffusion, Hydrogen in steels (diffusion & embrittlement), Tribology, Adhesion, Composite materials, Elasticity, Thermo-mechanics, Plasticity, Shakedown theory, Law-cycle fatigue.

Academical Project:

Design of a Medical Device – Forceps of Parallel Action: Involved in the design of a medical device, specifically forceps of parallel action. Development of FEM Code (MATLAB) for Modal Analysis: Developed Finite Element Method (FEM) code using MATLAB for modal analysis. Dynamical FEM Modeling of Wave Propagation: Conducted dynamical FEM modeling of wave propagation. Non-linear Vibrations Analysis: Engaged in non-linear vibrations analysis. Development of MEMS Sensor: Contributed to the development of a Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) sensor. Interactive Graphics: Worked on interactive graphics. Teaching Assistant (2004 – 2008): Served as a Teaching Assistant at the university.
