She has over five years of experience in laboratory research management, focusing on leading investigations in various WHO and Gates Foundation projects related to drug interventions and clinical trials, including projects such as ABCD (Antibiotics for Children with Severe Diarrhea), ZTDT (The Zinc Therapeutic Dose Trial), MOMI (Multiomics for Mother and Infants), and PPNDC-COVID sub-study, with cross-country and multi-center studies.

Dr. Aishwarya Chauhan completed her PhD in Indian Pharmacopoeia from the University of Allahabad (U.P.) from 2012 to 2017. She earned her M.Sc. in Microbiology from Jiwaji University, Gwalior (M.P.) from 2007 to 2009, specializing in Microbial Technology & Food Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Medical Microbiology. Dr. Chauhan completed her B.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry from A.P.S. University, Rewa (M.P.) in 2007, and her Intermediate and High School education from C.B.S.E Board, K.V.S., Sidhi, M.P. in 2003-2004 and 2002-2003, respectively.
Training:
Dr. Aishwarya Chauhan has extensive research and training experience in microbiology and related fields. She conducted research at the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) in Luchnow (U.P.), focusing on the combined effect of siderophore-producing rhizobacteria (SD22) and bioinoculants on the growth and productivity of Mentha Piperita plants. She also worked as a Ph.D. scholar at H.S. Gaur University in SAGAR (M.P.), where she conducted research on the taxonomic identification of microbial communities in rhizospheric soil, screening for α-galactosidase enzyme production. Additionally, Dr. Chauhan has received specialized training in phylogenetic and molecular sequencing analysis of microbial communities at CSIR-Microbial Research Institute in Mau, U.P. She has also provided on-site training to laboratory staff in biochemical, immunological, and ELISA techniques at PhL-IDC in Pemba island, Tanzania, and conducted training in various techniques including microbiological, biochemical, immunological, histopathology, virological, and serological analysis. She also played a key role in establishing a virology laboratory set-up for a COVID sero-surveillance project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Work Experience:
Dr. Aishwarya Chauhan has worked as a Research Scientist at the Center for Public Health Kinetics (CPHK) in Delhi from May 15, 2017, to May 20, 2022. She served as the Laboratory Head of the Molecular Microbiology division and was involved in various international projects, including the WHO multicentre project “Antibiotics for Children with Severe Diarrhea” (ABCD) and the Gates Foundation project “Zinc Estimation for Diarrhea Treatment” (ZTDT). Dr. Chauhan is currently involved in implementing the Gates Foundation project “Multiomics for Mothers and Children” (MOMI) in Pemba-Zanzibar Island, East Africa. She has contributed to establishing a virology lab setup in Pemba Island for the AMANHI-PPNDC Cohort, a COVID-19 sub-study funded by the Gates Foundation as a Platform grant (2020-22). She has 15 international publications in prestigious journals such as NEJM, BMC, BMJ, JAMA Open, Scientific Reports, Biomed Research International, MDPI Pathogens, and Taylor and Francis book chapters, published between 2012 and 2022.
Awards:
Dr. Aishwarya Chauhan has achieved several accolades in her academic and professional career. She was awarded the first prize in a Poster presentation by the National Academy of Sciences-India (NASI), Allahabad, U.P., India, in June 2013. The presentation focused on “α-galactosidase from some fungal species and their medical implications.” Additionally, she received the second prize in an Oral presentation titled “Phylogenetic identification of fungal species Penicillium citrinum from rhizospheric soil: Exploration for Agro-industrial waste utilization for commercial production of α-galactosidase enzyme” at the International Conference “Recent Advances in Agriculture Sciences” (ICRAAS) in March 2021, conducted by Amity University, Noida, U.P. Dr. Chauhan has also been recognized for her excellence in reviewing the “International Journal of Tropical Disease and Health” in 2021.
