Safaa Baz completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Medicine and Surgery from Ain Shams University in 2006. She furthered her education at the same university, earning a Master’s Degree in Oral Pathology in 2015. Safaa’s academic journey culminated in a Doctoral Degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from Cairo University in 2020, where she graduated top of her class with an Excellent Grade. Her doctoral thesis, titled “Therapeutic Effect of Luteolin Natural Extract Versus its Nanoparticles on Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma Cell Line: In Vitro Study,” showcased her dedication to advancing the understanding and treatment of oral cancers.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Dr. Safaa Baz is a dedicated professional with a rich history in dentistry and academia. She currently holds the position of Lecturer of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the British University in Egypt, Faculty of Dentistry, a role she has fulfilled since 2020. Prior to this, Safaa served as a Teaching Assistant of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the same institution, starting as a part-timer in 2016-2017 and then transitioning to a full-timer from 2017 to 2020. Before joining the British University in Egypt, she contributed her expertise as a Teaching Assistant of Oral Pathology at the Modern University for Technology and Information, Faculty of Dentistry, from 2014 to 2016. Safaa began her career as a Dentist, initially at the Ministry of Health in Egypt from 2007 to 2009, and later at Alhegaz Medical Center from 2007 to 2010. Her diverse experiences have shaped her into a well-rounded professional in the field of dentistry.
CURRENT RESEARCH:
Dr. Safaa Baz is actively engaged in several research projects focusing on various aspects of oral and maxillofacial pathology. One of her ongoing studies involves a case report and literature review on a recurring Mandibular Ghost Cell Odontogenic Carcinoma, aiming to enhance understanding and management of this rare pathology. Additionally, Safaa is investigating the balance between risks and benefits of Vitamin C therapy compared to the toxicity of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles in Albino Rats’ Submandibular Salivary Gland, shedding light on potential therapeutic avenues and safety considerations.
Furthermore, she is conducting research on the effectiveness of an educational intervention in improving oral cancer knowledge and awareness among senior medical students, which has implications for enhancing early detection and management of oral cancers. Lastly, Safaa is leading a study on the role of oral ulcers as a manifestation of COVID-19 infection, contributing to the understanding of the diverse clinical presentations of the disease. Her diverse research portfolio reflects her commitment to advancing knowledge in oral and maxillofacial pathology, with potential implications for clinical practice and public health.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Dr. Safaa Baz has actively participated in several academic and professional development events to enhance her knowledge and skills in oral and maxillofacial pathology. She attended the “Highlights on Neurogenetics Course” at the National Research Centre, expanding her expertise in neurogenetics. Safaa also presented scientific posters at prestigious events, including the “Annual Scientific Day of the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Department” at the Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University, and the First Faculty of Dentistry Online Conference at The British University in Egypt, where she showcased her research and contributed to the academic discourse.
Furthermore, Safaa has demonstrated her commitment to continuous learning and improvement by successfully completing “the Advanced Writing Course” certified by the University of California, Irvine, and Coursera. This course equipped her with advanced writing skills, which are essential for academic and professional success.
