Dagne Tsegaye’s educational journey in veterinary medicine began with his primary education at Chebo Wonchi Elementary School from 2002 to 2007, followed by Samo Sakiru Primary School from 2000 to 2002. He then attended Dariyan Senior Secondary School from 2007 to 2010, where he completed his secondary education. Dagne furthered his academic pursuits at Dej. Geresu Duki Secondary and Preparatory School from 2010 to 2012, preparing for higher education. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Haramaya University, graduating in 2018. Most recently, Dagne completed his Master’s degree (MSc) at the University of Gondar, where he studied from 2019 to 2021, solidifying his expertise in veterinary science.
Professional Experience
Ranal Gurbanov has actively engaged in various professional and extracurricular roles that reflect his commitment to both academic excellence and community service. He earned a bronze medal in the 2019 National Biology Olympiad, demonstrating his strong foundational knowledge in biology. His participation in the Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) allowed him to study in the U.S., gaining invaluable cultural and leadership experience. In his volunteer work, Ranal has contributed to the “Social and Active Doctors Community (GÜTSAH),” where he helps improve the lives of children with chronic diseases through moral support and gifts. Additionally, his role in the “KANOPE” Blood and Organ Donation Community showcases his efforts to raise awareness about organ and blood donation, addressing critical healthcare issues in Turkey. Activities
Dagne Tsegaye has actively contributed to various teaching and learning activities, overseeing more than ten courses at the college. He currently serves as the Assistant Coordinator of the Continuing Education Program (CEP) at the Chelenko Coordination Center and heads the Veterinary Pathology Laboratory, a role he undertakes as a voluntary service. Dagne was also delegated to manage matters related to the Freshman Program Coordination Office at the Station Campus from January 3 to 10, 2022, and coordinated activities for the CVM Veterinary Laboratories Coordinator Office from March 22 to April 2022. Additionally, he has taken on responsibilities concerning the Registrar Affairs of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dagne successfully coordinated students’ educational trips to Hiwot-Fana Specialized University Hospital, Jigjiga University College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Jigjiga and Hirna Regional Veterinary Laboratories. He played a key role in the Exam Supervision Team for the midterm examination of freshman students from July 11 to 15, 2022, and voluntarily participated in the module distribution for freshman program students during the 2021/22 academic year. Furthermore, he was appointed by the Postgraduate Program Directorate (PGPD) as a member of the Board of Examiners for the MSc Thesis defense of four students.
Achievements
Dagne Tsegaye has earned several notable certificates of achievement throughout his professional development. He participated in the “Biosecurity Hybrid Training in Poultry Farming Production,” offered by the National Veterinary School of Toulouse and Addis Ababa University College of Veterinary Medicine from May 9 to 27, 2022. Additionally, he attended a mini-training session on “Sustainable Leadership in the Livestock Sector” from August 1 to 6, 2022. Dagne also completed an online course titled “Avian Influenza Preparedness Course,” organized by the Virtual Learning Center for Eastern Africa and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which took place from November 3 to December 1, 2022. His dedication to academic excellence was recognized when he received a gold medal for outstanding academic achievement from the College of Veterinary Medicine Graduates in 2018.
