Dr. Amod Kumar has held several significant positions in the field of animal research and virology in India. Since November 2019, he has been serving as a Scientist at the ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources in Karnal, Haryana, India. Prior to this role, from October 2018 to November 2019, he worked as a Scientist at the ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. His expertise also includes a position as a Research Scientist-II at the Regional Virology Lab, All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India, from November 2016 to June 2018. Dr. Kumar began his career as a Research Associate at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand, India, where he worked from September 2015 to October 2016. 🧪🔬🐄
Achievements 🏆:
In 2023, Dr. Amod Kumar received the Best Poster presentation award for his work on ‘Genome-wide Runs of Homozygosity Reveals Selection Signatures and Inbreeding in Indian Milch Cattle Breeds’ at the National Conference organized by ISAGB and ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal. He also won the Best Poster presentation award for his research on ‘Deciphering the Role of Shutdown Chicken Pulmonary miRNA during Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1) Infection’ at the same event. Earlier, in 2019, he was honored with the Best Oral presentation award for his work on ‘Differential miRNA Expression Profiling of HPAIV H5N1 Infected Chicken Lungs Reveals Critical Biological Pathways Involved in the Molecular Pathogenesis’ at a National Conference organized by ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut, India. Additionally, his research on ‘miRNA Profiling of Categorized Frieswal Crossbred Bull Spermatozoa’ earned him the Best Poster presentation award at another National Conference organized by ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut. In 2016, he received the Best Paper Award at a Global Symposium organized by IAVMI for his work on ‘Transcriptome Analysis of Host and Bacterial Genes in Pasteurella Multocida Infected Mice Model’. During the same year, he was honored with the Dr. S.S. Prabhu Award for Best PhD Thesis during the IX Convocation held at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. Dr. Kumar’s academic pursuits were supported by an Institutional fellowship from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute during his PhD (2012-2015) and a Junior Research Fellowship from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research during his M.V.Sc. (2010-2012).
