He has visited several significant geological sites, including Bauxite mines in Kollimalai Hills and Shevaroys Hills in Salem, Neyveli Lignite mines, the Thiruvakkarai wood fossil site, and locations with crystalline limestone. Furthermore, Dr. Dhanasekaran has visited the mineralization shear zone in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri, and has conducted fieldwork in and around Salem and Namakkal. His fieldwork also extends to the study of Some Proterozoic Rocks of the Cuddapah Basin in Andhra Pradesh, where he has undertaken sedimentary petrology and stratigraphic investigations. Jan. 1997 – Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, with a thesis titled “Isotopic Composition of Silurian Brachiopods: Implications for Coeval Seawater.” The research involved the reconstruction of reference isotope profiles (δ13C, δ18O, and 87Sr/86Sr) for the Silurian Period for high-resolution global stratigraphic correlations and the reconstruction of Silurian paleoenvironmental conditions (paleoclimatic and paleoceanographic patterns) from the geochemistry of marine carbonates. July 1992 – M.Sc. in Geology from the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, with a thesis titled “Subsurface Diagenetic Evolution and Porosity Evaluation of Middle-Upper Devonian Kee Scarp Reef, Norman Wells, N.W.T., Canada.” The research included the genetic classification of micropores, the relationship of micropores to reef habitat, carbonate petrography, and the differential response, reflected by the nature of micropores, of skeletal and non-skeletal components in different facies to the diagenetic water-rock interaction and their associated changes in the geochemistry of carbonates. May 1983 – B.Sc. Honours in Geology-Chemistry (double major) from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.
