Johanna Kokot, born on June 22, 1984, in Templin, is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at Universität Hamburg. Since 2019, she has held the position of Assistant Professor for Behavioral Economics of Healthcare (Tenure Track) at the Hamburg Center for Health Economics, Universität Hamburg. Prior to this, from 2017 to 2019, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Central Research Institute of Ambulatory Health Care in Germany (Zentralinstitut für die Kassenärztliche Versorgung in Deutschland, Zi) in Berlin.

Prof. Johanna Kokot is an Assistant Professor for Behavioral Economics of Healthcare (Tenure Track) at the Hamburg Center for Health Economics, Universität Hamburg, since 2019. Prior to this role, she served as a Research Fellow at the Central Research Institute of Ambulatory Health Care in Germany (Zentralinstitut für die Kassenärztliche Versorgung in Deutschland, Zi), Berlin, from 2017 to 2019. From 2011 to 2017, she was a Research Fellow at the Department of Economics and Health Economics Research Center (CINCH) at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

Academic Training:

In 2018, Prof. Johanna Kokot earned her Ph.D. in Economics (Dr. rer. pol.) from the University of Duisburg-Essen. Her thesis, titled “Risk preferences and financial incentives in health care markets,” was awarded the highest distinction of summa cum laude. She completed her Diploma in Economics at TU Dortmund in 2010.

Prof. Johanna Kokot’s research interests include Health Economics, Behavioral and Experimental Economics, and Healthcare Management.

Teaching:

At the Universität Hamburg, Prof. Johanna Kokot has taught a variety of courses covering Behavioral Economics, Health Economics, and related topics. In the winter term of 2023, she taught “Behavioral Health Economics” for the Master’s program in English, and “Actual Topics in Behavioral Economics” for the Bachelor’s program. In the summer term of 2023, she taught “Behavioral Economics” for the Bachelor’s program and “Monetary and non-monetary incentives” for the Master’s program. In the winter term of 2022, she taught “Behavioral Health Economics” and “Social Preferences” for the Master’s program. In the summer term of 2022, she taught “Behavioral Economics” and offered courses on the behavioral economic perspective of the coronavirus pandemic for both Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, as well as for the Hamburg International Summer School. Her courses in the winter term of 2021 included “Health Economics” in English, and courses on behavioral economic experiments and the coronavirus pandemic for the Master’s program. In the summer term of 2021, she taught “Behavioral Economics” and offered courses on the behavioral economic perspective of the coronavirus pandemic for both Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, as well as for the Hamburg International Summer School.
