Education:
Assoc Prof Dr Samia El-Didamony graduated from the Zoology department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, with a bachelor’s degree in Entomology in May 2008, ranking first in her department. She completed her master’s degree in the same department in February 2013 and her Ph.D. in Medical Entomology Science on 25th October 2017. Her Ph.D. study focused on using nanotechnology and natural products in cancer treatment. Currently, she works as an associate professor at the Zoology and Entomology Department, Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University.
Research Experiences:
Dr. Samia El-Didamony has a diverse range of scientific research experiences and has been involved in academic teaching for over ten years. Her research areas include:
- Cell culture and drug discovery
- Using nano-biotechnology in the treatment of cancer and microbial diseases
- Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials

Her expertise spans the application of nanotechnology in medical fields, the study of insect vectors and their impact on public health, the development of novel treatments using natural compounds, and the characterization of nanoparticles for various biomedical applications. Additionally, her work delves into the intricate mechanisms of innate immunity and the management of diseases affecting honeybee populations. Dr. El-Didamony’s interdisciplinary approach integrates multiple scientific disciplines to address complex challenges in health, medicine, and environmental sustainability.
Research & Development:
Dr. Samia El-Didamony is dedicated to developing innovative approaches and enhanced solutions to address various research challenges. For instance, she led a research study aimed at formulating an optimized drug formulation to enhance its anticancer properties while minimizing systemic side effects. This formulation was evaluated for its antitumor effects against PC3, with the goal of improving cancer therapeutic protocols. Additionally, Dr. El-Didamony and her team achieved a significant milestone by isolating a fungus from honeybees, identified as Mucor bainieri MK-Bee-2, which exhibited promising anticancer activity against human lung and liver cancer cells. Notably, this fungus demonstrated higher selectivity in cancer cells compared to normal lung fibroblast and oral epithelial cells. Furthermore, she pioneered an environmentally safe electromagnetic fields (EMF) method at an extremely low frequency (50 Hz) for the control of mosquito-borne filariasis. These achievements showcase her commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and addressing critical healthcare and environmental challenges through innovative research.
