Mr. SURESH KUMAR is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (A Central University) since October 13, 2017. His thesis, titled “Assessment and chemical characterization of atmospheric particulate matter in Lucknow city, Uttar Pradesh, India,” is supervised by Prof. Shiv Kumar Dwivedi, Former Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Dean of the School for Earth & Environmental Sciences at the university. He successfully submitted his thesis to the department on April 12, 2023, and is now preparing for the oral examination for the award of the doctoral degree. Mr. KUMAR holds a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences (2013-2015) from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, with a dissertation on the diurnal variation in morphology and elemental composition of particulate matter in rural and urban areas of Lucknow, supervised by Dr. Narendra Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Zoology & Botany (2010-2012) from Maharani Lal Kunwari PG College, affiliated with Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. His secondary education includes a 12th standard (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) from Kaushlendra Vikram (KV) Inter College, Payagpur, Bharaich, and a 10th standard from the same institution, both under the UP Board, with scores of 46.4% and 45.6%, respectively.

Job Experience as Air Quality Associate 🏢

Worked at Kumud Enviro & Infrastructure Consultancy, Lucknow from June 2015 to September 2017. Responsibilities included air quality monitoring, data analysis, atmospheric pollution modeling, report writing, and stakeholder communication.

Doctoral Work Overview 🎓

Ph.D. thesis focused on air quality variation during 2019 and 2020 in Lucknow, India, based on atmospheric particulate matter (PM10 & PM2.5) monitoring. Examined physico-chemical aspects of PMs and their health risks. Used the AirQ+ model for health risk analysis and EPA framework-model for heavy metal health risk assessments. Conducted source characterization of particulate matter using enrichment factors of heavy metals and the PMF model (Version 5.0) for source apportionment.

Projects include ongoing research on risk-stratifying patients with COVID-19 pneumonia, predicting mortality, and assessing long-term PFT abnormalities in long-COVID. Additionally, Dr. Bradley has collaborated with Imvaria on several projects related to implementing artificial intelligence in the detection of pulmonary fibrosis.
  • December 2016 – 2018: Norton Urogynecology Center, Norton Healthcare. Supervised by Dr. Ali Azadi, Dr. Bradley published a case report about a giant cell tumor in the vagina and conducted a retrospective case study on the safety of performing bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for ovarian cancer prophylaxis in women undergoing surgical repair of pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.
