Education
Ayon Das Mahapatra completed his PhD in Physics at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (Jadavpur University) in 2022, where he achieved an impressive 80.5%. Prior to that, he earned a Postgraduate degree in Physics from Midnapore College (Vidyasagar University) with First Class honors, scoring 74.42% in 2015. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Physics (Honors) from the same institution, graduating with First Class distinction and a 70.13% in 2013. Ayon’s foundational education includes Higher Secondary and Secondary certifications from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyabhaban, Midnapore, where he excelled with First Division marks of 80.20% and 84.75%, respectively.
Professional Experience
Ayon Das Mahapatra is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Chemistry, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, since 2023. Prior to this role, he was a Research Associate in Instrumentation and Applied Physics at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, from 2022 to 2023. His earlier experiences include working as a Project Intern at Surendranath Evening College, Kolkata (2021-2022), and conducting research as a Scholar at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, where he focused on metal oxide and sulfide nanostructure-based thin films for high-performance UV to NIR photodetector applications (2015-2021). Additionally, Ayon has contributed as a Mentor and Resource Person in scientific workshops at the IAPT-Midnapore College Centre for Scientific Culture (2014-2015). His academic projects include a Master’s Project on reduced graphene oxide-zinc phthalocyanine nanocomposites (2014-2015) and a Bachelor’s Project on solar cell studies (2012-2013) at Midnapore College, Vidyasagar University.

Dr. Mahapatra received the Young Researcher Award from the Institute of Scholars, India, in 2021, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the field.
