Dr. Suryakant Sapkal completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry in October 2010 under the guidance of Prof. M. S. Shingare at the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, India. His thesis was titled “Facile Synthesis of Some Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Sulfur Containing Heterocyclic Compounds Using Catalysts.” Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Sapkal obtained his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry with First Division in October 2006 from the same university. He completed his B.Sc. with First Division in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in June 2004 from Karmveer Mamasaheb Jagadale Mahavidyalaya Washi, Osmanabad, India. Dr. Sapkal’s academic journey reflects his dedication to the field of chemistry and his commitment to academic excellence.

Dr. Suryakant Sapkal is actively engaged in various research projects in the field of chemistry. His ongoing projects include the design and evaluation of sulfonyl piperazine derived s-triazine derivatives. He has also submitted proposals for drug discovery and development of anticancer agents, as well as bio-nano-chemical treatments for solid waste management. Dr. Sapkal has completed projects on ultrasound-assisted synthesis of heterocyclic compounds and the use of thiamine hydrochloride in synthesizing heterocyclic compounds. He has also conducted research on the green synthesis of bioactive heterocyclic compounds using nickel nanoparticles and transition metal catalyzed synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidine 2 (1H)-ones. Despite facing rejections for some projects, Dr. Sapkal remains dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge in his field.

Teaching  Experience:

Dr. Suryakant Sapkal has a rich academic background and teaching experience. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor and Head of the Chemistry Department at MGM University, Aurangabad, India. Prior to this, he taught at various institutions, including T. C. College Baramati, where he taught postgraduate students for one year, and Vivekanand Science College, Aurangabad, where he taught undergraduate students for one year. Dr. Sapkal has also supervised introductory organic chemistry lab courses for undergraduate students at the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, from 2006 to 2009. Additionally, he has teaching experience in engineering diploma courses at DOEACC, Aurangabad, for one year and seven months.
