Mr. Jessan Jishu is currently pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, with an expected graduation in May 2026. Concurrently, he is also pursuing a Master of Public Health in Health Systems Management at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, also expected to be completed in May 2026. Prior to this, Mr. Jishu completed a Master of Science in Biotechnology at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, in June 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Biomaterials Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, which he obtained in May 2022.

Mr. Jessan Jishu is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in healthcare and medical education. Currently serving as the Vice Chair for the Committee on Medical Education at the Louisiana State Medical Society โ Medical Student Section in Baton Rouge, LA, since April 2023, he leads a team of six members in conducting literature reviews on issues and policy gaps in American medical schools. He is actively involved in drafting resolutions aimed at promoting mentor-mentee programs and integrating ultrasound/imaging modalities into first-year anatomy courses.
In addition to his leadership role, Mr. Jishu is dedicated to community service and clinical care. As a Tuberculosis Clinic Leader at the Low Barrier Shelter in New Orleans, LA, since January 2023, he performs PPD tests on shelter residents and provides referrals for further evaluation, contributing to public health efforts. He also imparts his knowledge by teaching medical students about tuberculosis and best practices in administering and interpreting PPD results in student-run clinics.
Prior to his current roles, Mr. Jishu gained valuable experience as a Volunteer Health Educator with the Health Education and Training Corps (HEAT) at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, where he educated teachers and youth about COVID-19 science and public health topics.
