Saul Santini completed his PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Florence, Italy, from November 2020 to October 2023. His research involved the development of analytical procedures for the determination of emerging organic compounds, including the analysis of contaminants in fish samples, rodenticides in owl samples, and phthalates in Talitrus saltator samples. He also worked on determining trace elements in cosmetics and assessing their toxic effects on humans. Saul collaborated with the TecnaTox research center at the University of Tarragona on the analysis of microplastics in human and pig intestine samples and monitored microplastic contamination levels in edible mollusks along the Mediterranean coasts. Additionally, he optimized analytical methods for analyzing pesticides in food matrices and participated in environmental monitoring campaigns. Three of his papers are currently under review in international journals.

Saul Santini has held several positions in the field of education and chemical safety. Since November 2023, he has been working as a Secondary School Teacher at Istituto Superiore A. Checchi, where he teaches Chemical Science and Technology. He is also a Worker Safety Trainer at ITT Marco Polo, providing safety training for students undertaking the PCTO route and assigned a medium risk. Additionally, Saul works as a Chemical Risk Consultant at a chemical materials production company, where he updates the company’s Risk Assessment Document. Saul Santini completed his Master’s Degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Florence, Italy, from September 2015 to July 2017. Prior to his master’s, Saul obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Florence, from September 2011 to April 2015. Acadymic Researches:

In my research, I have focused on the development and application of electrochemical methods for the determination of various compounds in pharmaceutical formulations and environmental samples. One of my studies involved the potentiometric determination of oxybutynin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulations using modified carbon paste electrodes, which was published in the Indian Journal of Chemistry in 2020 (Indian Journal of Chemistry. 59: 324-332, 2020). Another research endeavor explored the electrochemical performance of screen-printed sensors for the potentiometric determination of anticholinergic oxybutynin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids, as documented in the Egypt.J.Chem, 63(5): 1999 – 2009, 2020. Additionally, I have contributed to the development of modified carbon paste ion-selective electrodes for the determination of Cr(III) ions in aqueous solutions and real samples using tetragonal zirconia nanoparticles, as published in RSC Advances in 2023 (RSC Advances, 13, 11201, 2023). Furthermore, my research has extended to the fabrication and characterization of mullite nano-ceramic materials for use in carbon paste ion-selective electrodes to estimate carcinogenic Cd(II) ions in real and human samples, which was published in the Microchemical Journal in 2023 (Microchemical Journal 190 (2023) 108623).
