He holds functional Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with other universities, industries, and corporates, totaling 1. Additionally, he is a member of 7 professional bodies. His research areas include soil carbonation treatment and foundation improvement. 🏆

Research and Development:

🌱 Prof. Guanghua Cai’s main contributions include the invention of carbonation/stabilization technology for weak soils using reactive MgO. His research investigated the impact of key factors such as MgO content, activity, soil types, and carbonation time on the physicochemical and mechanical properties, as well as the durability of MgO-carbonated soils, proposing optimal conditions for these parameters. Additionally, he established microstructure models of MgO-carbonated weak soils, revealing a comprehensive soil stabilization mechanism involving hydration reaction, ion-exchange adsorption, carbonation reaction, and swell-filling effect.

🔬 Furthermore, Prof. Cai developed novel in-situ carbonation/stabilization construction equipment and processes. This included the invention of two specific construction methods based on the depth of the pre-treated soft soil: mass carbonation/stabilization technology for treating shallow layers (< 3m) of soft soil and carbonated composite pile technology for treating thicker soft soil layers. Corresponding construction equipment and processes were also developed to support these innovative methods. 🏗️
