Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fathy Mohamed obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Assiut University, Faculty of Science, Assuit, Egypt, in May 1994. He pursued further education and earned a Master of Analytical Chemistry from Benha University, Faculty of Science, Benha, Egypt, in January 2006. Later, he completed his PhD in Chemistry from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Science, Abbasia, Egypt, in October 2009.

Commencing his career as a Chemist in Quality Control and Production at a private company from 1994 to 1999, he subsequently served as the Technical Manager of the Research and Development (R&D) section at Kaha Company for Chemical Industries until 2009. His responsibilities encompassed the design of various treatment units, monitoring drinking and wastewater, and the preparation of chemicals for water treatment. Transitioning to roles of increasing responsibility, he assumed the position of Quality Sector Head at Qena Company for Water and Wastewater from 2010 to 2012. Dr. Fathy also ventured into academia, serving as a Lecturer of Chemistry at Al-Asmarya Islamic University in Libya from 2012 to 2013. His expertise led him to become the General Manager of R&D and Desalination Management at Matrouh Company for Water and Wastewater from 2014 to 2017. Since October 2017, he has been actively involved in academia as a Lecturer of Water and Wastewater Treatment at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, where he imparts knowledge on water treatment processes. Dr. Fathy’s remarkable career trajectory culminated in his appointment as the Manager of the IT Unit and Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry, concurrently serving as the Head of the Water and Environment Department at the Faculty of Earth Sciences from July 2020 onwards.
