From 1982 to 1989, I was a student at the Faculty of Physics, KNU. Following my undergraduate studies, I continued my academic journey as a postgraduate student at the same institution from 1989 to 1992, delving deeper into the field of physics. My quest for knowledge and expertise led me to pursue doctoral studies, and from 1995 to 1998, I served as a doctorant at the Faculty of Physics, KNU, where I dedicated myself to advanced research and scholarly pursuits in the realm of physics. These formative years of academic training and research laid a strong foundation for my future endeavors in the field.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND;

My academic and professional journey has been marked by a deep commitment to the field of physics and biophysics, with a focus on theoretical research and teaching. After completing my postgraduate studies in 1992, I took on the role of Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Physics, KNU, where I engaged in advanced research activities. Building on this experience, I assumed the position of Assistant Professor at the same department from 1993 to 1995, contributing to both research and teaching in theoretical physics.

In 1998, my career progressed as I became an Associate Professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics, Faculty of Physics, KNU, where I continued to advance my research and academic pursuits. In the same year, I obtained a Docent certificate in Theoretical Physics, further solidifying my expertise in this field. Expanding my academic horizons, I transitioned to the Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Biology, KNU, where I served as an Associate Professor from 2000 to 2001, delving into the interdisciplinary realm of biophysics.

My dedication to biophysics led to my appointment as a Professor at the Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Biology, KNU, a position I held from 2001 to 2007. During this time, I made significant contributions to the department’s research and academic programs, earning a Professor certificate in Biophysics in 2007. Building on my expertise, I currently serve as a Professor at the Department of Biophysics and Medical Informatics at ESC “Institute of Biology and Medicine”, KNU, a role I have held since 2007. In my research endeavors, I have actively contributed to the interdisciplinary fields of Nanobiotechnology and Biophysics, focusing on the application of nanomaterials in biomedical contexts. My work in Nanobiotechnology has centered on exploring the biomedical applications of nanomaterials, leveraging their unique properties for various biomedical purposes.

Within the realm of Biophysics, my research has encompassed the study of muscle contraction mechanisms and the computational investigation of nanoparticle bioactivity using molecular dynamics and docking simulations. These efforts have aimed to deepen our understanding of biological processes at the molecular level and to harness nanotechnology for biomedical advancements.

Project SUSA (2016 – 2017): This project focused on Language Education and Meaningful Waiting at Restad gård (Refugee Camp). The research findings were presented in a scientific report. Other contributing researchers included Girma Berhanu, Helena Korp, and Signild Risenfors. The project was a collaboration between University West and the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Project Reconstructing Parenthood (2018 – December 2019): This project explored newly arrived parents’ reflections on upbringing, education, and parental support in Sweden. It was a collaboration with the educational association, Vuxenskolan Väst, Trollhättan, Sweden. Helena Korp from the University West, Trollhättan, Sweden, was another contributing researcher.

International Conference of Applied Linguistics-AILA: Attended the 20th world congress with the theme “Diversity and social cohesion in a globalized world: moving towards more engaged language studies” in Lyon, France, from 17-21 July 2023. The European Conference on Educational Research- ECER 2023: Participated in this conference with the theme “The Value of Diversity in Education and Educational Research” in Glasgow, Scotland, from 22-25 August 2023. Joined a symposium within the network of Language and Education, which was organized in collaboration with two other researchers from the Netherlands and Austria. Their symposium paper and individual papers were accepted and highly ranked by the reviewers. Linguistically diverse students’ perceptions of difficulties with reading and understanding texts in civics: Presented at the ARLE SIG Literacy, Brown bag meetings for PhD students with research in literacy, oral and written language, held on 10 March 2023 (Zoom).

Aboshanab is a professor of microbiology and immunology and the Vice Dean for postgraduate studies and scientific research at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. He earned his Ph.D. from Wuppertal University, Germany in 2005. Dr. Aboshanab is a member of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and a reporter of the medical sector of the strategic research committee of Ain Shams University. He served as the director of the quality assurance unit (QAU) of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University from October 2012 to October 2017 and was a member of the permanent committee of postgraduate studies and scientific research. Dr. Aboshanab has supervised 26 Ph.D. students and 32 Master’s students from Ain Shams University, other universities, medical institutes, and pharmaceutical industries in Egypt. He holds one international patent and has published 99 international and 125 national scientific publications, one international book, and 136 gene submissions in the NCBI GenBank database.
