Academic Background:

Felipe Firmino Diniz completed his Ph.D. in Agronomy with a concentration in Agricultural Microbiology from Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ), Brazil, from 2000 to 2004. His dissertation was on the immobilization of the exoenzymes of Kluyveromyces marxianus MMIII-41 with inulinolytic and pectinolytic activity. He was a scholarship recipient of the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Prior to his Ph.D., he completed his Master’s in Biotechnology at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Brazil, from 1994 to 1996, focusing on the influence of culture medium composition on productivity. His Master’s was supported by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES). Felipe’s academic journey began with a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the Universidade de Santo Amaro (UNISA), Brazil, from 1990 to 1993.

In 2009, Felipe Firmino Diniz pursued several short-duration courses at the Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina (UNOESC) in Joacaba, Brazil. Felipe Firmino Diniz has been a Professor Adjunct IV at the Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados (UFGD) since 2009, with an exclusive dedication regime and a workload of 40 hours. He served as the Coordinator of the Biotechnology course from March 28, 2010, to September 2013, dedicating 20 hours per week to this role. Additionally, he has been the Vice-Director since July 4, 2015. Prior to his current position, Felipe worked at the Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina (UNOESC) from 2004 to 2009 as a Professor Doutor under a formal employment contract, with a full-time workload. His research at UNOESC focused on the characterization of microorganisms important in biotechnology, the physical, chemical, or biotechnological conversion of agricultural and agro-industrial biomass into high-value-added products, and the utilization of agro-industrial residues. Before joining UNOESC, Felipe was a Collaborator at the Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ) from 2000 to 2004. During this time, he participated in a research project on yeast genetics, specifically focusing on cloning, construction of cloning vectors, genetic and physical mapping of genes conferring resistance to the antifungal drug nystatin and herbicides, sequencing of the dominant NYS gene, studying the expression and physiological effects with various promoters, studying intragenic recombination involving the ARG4 locus, and determining the influence of gene conversions on gene frequency alterations.
