Dr. Mohd Nayab is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the field of Unani Medicine. With a background in Moalijat (MD) from NIUM, RGUHS, Karnataka, and BUMS from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, Dr. Nayab has established himself as a proficient practitioner and educator. He has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru. Education:

Dr. Mohd Nayab completed his MD in Moalijat from NIUM, RGUHS, Karnataka, in 2008, achieving a first division. Prior to this, he obtained his BUMS from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, in 2004, also securing a first division. Dr. Nayab’s academic journey began with his Intermediate studies at UP Board in 1996, where he attained a first division. He completed his High School education from UP Board in 1994, achieving a second division.

Professional Positions:

Dr. Mohd Nayab has held various positions in the field of Unani Medicine, including Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor. He has served as a Lecturer at the Department of Munafe-ul-Aza (Physiology) at A & U Tibbia College & Hospital, Karol Bagh, New Delhi, from January 30, 2009, to December 29, 2009, and again from March 23, 2010, to June 2, 2010. He worked as an Assistant Professor at H.S.Z.H. Govt. (Auto.) Unani Medical College & Hospital, Bhopal, from June 3, 2010, to March 19, 2012. Since March 21, 2011, Dr. Nayab has been associated with the Department of Ilaj bit Tadbeer at the National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru, initially as a Lecturer until March 20, 2017, and then as an Assistant Professor until March 20, 2022. Since March 21, 2022, he has been serving as an Associate Professor in the same department.

Awards:

Dr. Mohd Nayab was honored with the University Bronze Medal for achieving the third position in the Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) program at Jamia Hamdard. Training:

Dr. Mohd Nayab has actively engaged in various training programs related to Unani medicine. Notable among these are his participation as Coordinator in a Two-Month Certificate Course in Cupping Therapy Assistant organized by the Department of Ilaj bit Tadbeer, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru, from 1st Feb – 31st March 2022. He also coordinated an Interdisciplinary Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Awareness on Sehat-i-Atfal (Children’s Health) on 04.04.2022, organized by the National Institute of Unani Medicine under the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Additionally, he led a One-Day Interdisciplinary CME in collaboration with NU Hospital on Contemporary View on Diabetic Complications and their Management on 03.09.2022, organized by the National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru. Furthermore, Dr. Nayab coordinated another Two-Month Certificate Course in Cupping Therapy Assistant from 12.01.2023 to 13.03.2023, organized by the Department of Ilaj bit Tadbeer, National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru, under the Central Sector Scheme for Skill Development launched by AYUSH Development Section, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.

Area of Interests:

Dr. Mohd Nayab has made significant contributions in the field of Unani medicine, treating over fifteen thousand patients on an outpatient basis and two thousand five hundred on an inpatient basis. He has established a synergistic relationship between regimenal therapy and physiotherapy, and worked to implement various regimenal modalities for different diseases. Dr. Nayab has developed Standard Operating Procedures for these modalities, which have been applied at the National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru. He has also published numerous research and review papers in national and international journals, showcasing his expertise and research contributions. Additionally, Dr. Nayab authored a book titled “Fundamentals of Hijama Therapy,” further demonstrating his commitment to advancing Unani medicine.
