Projects:

Dr. Figen Erek has been actively involved in various research projects, including the DUBAP FEN.23.010 project in 2024, which focused on the preconcentration of Brilliant Blue FCF from foods using an ionic liquid-based microextraction method. She also contributed to the DUBAP FEN.18.004 project in 2021, which aimed to remove chromium metal from wastewater using Şırnak coal ash. In 2019, Dr. Erek participated in the DUBAP ECZACILIK: 19.001 project, where she worked on developing a spectrofotometric method for determining certain drug substances. Additionally, she was involved in the DUBAP Fen.16.011 project in 2017, which focused on the extraction and categorization of metals in asphaltite ash using different methods. In 2015, Dr. Erek contributed to the DUBAP 14-FF-2 project, which aimed to extract copper from iron ores.

Ph.D. in Drug Discovery from Medicinal Plants and Phytochemistry-Org. Chem. from the University of Salahaddin and University of Pavia, Italy, awarded in January 2017. The dissertation title was “A New Iridoid Dimer and Main Chemical Constituents from Pterocephalus Nestorianus; Isolation, Spectroscopic Identification and Bioassay Screening.” The advisors for this Ph.D. were Prof. Dr. F. HS. Hussain and Full Prof. Dr. Giovanni Vidari from Italy, and the user achieved an average grade of 93.5%. M.Sc. in Ethnobiopharmacy and Natural Product-Org. Chem from the University of Pavia, Italy, completed in 2012. The advisor for this degree was Prof. Dr. Giovanni Vidari, and the user ranked 2nd in their class. Their research focused on the phytochemical study of Teucrium parviflorum Scherb, including the identification of main bioactive metabolites and determination of biological activity. B.Sc. in General Chemistry from Salahaddin University, Erbil-Kurdistan, completed from 2004 to 2008. The user ranked 3rd in their class.
