Assoc Prof Dr Gennaro Pica completed his Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” from 2009 to 2012. The title of his dissertation was “The Motivational Dynamics of Retrieval-induced Forgetting: A Test of Cognitive Energetics Theory,” supervised by Prof. Antonio Pierro (University of Rome “La Sapienza”) and Prof. Arie W. Kruglanski (University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA).

He also holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology of Communication and Marketing from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” completed from 2007 to 2009. The title of his dissertation was “Leader group prototypicality and group cohesiveness,” supervised by Prof. Antonio Pierro (University of Rome “La Sapienza”) and Prof. Daan van Knippenberg (Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Holland), with a mark of 110/110 cum laude.

Additionally, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (course name: “Formazione, comunicazione e innovazione nei contesti sociali e organizzativi”) from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” from 2002 to 2006. Ms. Jane Schmi pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor from September 2016 to May 2020. During this period, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, & Neuroscience, complemented by a Minor in Social Class & Inequality Studies. Subsequently, from September 2020 to May 2022, she continued her academic journey at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where she obtained a Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences with a focus on the dietetics track.

Experience:

Ms. Jane Schmi has amassed a diverse range of professional experiences that demonstrate her commitment to health and education. Since June 2021, she has been a Coach at [solidcore], where she leads over 7 high-intensity, low-impact strength-based classes weekly, catering to a varied clientele by providing modifications and amplifications for all exercises. Her dedication is evident through her completion of 60 hours of in-studio trainings, self-study, and community classes, culminating in her successful evaluation. Ms. Schmi excels in upholding the brand standards of client experience, inclusivity, and community building, ensuring the studio space is maintained and implementing safe, effective sequencing for classes. Prior to her current role, Ms. Schmi served as a Dietetic Technician at Michigan Medicine from April 2021 to August 2021. In this capacity, she demonstrated her organizational skills by managing the delivery of oral and tube feed supplements to patients. Additionally, she provided valuable guidance to patients in selecting meals based on their medical dietary restrictions and delivered heart-healthy diet education to patients in cardiac units.

Research Experience:

Jane Schmid has been involved in various research projects during her academic career. At the University of Michigan School of Public Health, she participated in the Nourish Employee Wellness Study, where she assisted in data collection and administrative tasks for a study examining an intuitive eating-based workplace wellness program. She also analyzed data for her master’s thesis and published her findings in the Eating Behaviors Journal. Additionally, Jane collected qualitative data for the MyVoice project from a nationally representative sample of 18-24 year olds, analyzing the data and publishing her findings in the same journal. Prior to this, she contributed to the Tracking our Lives Study, focusing on the relationship between fitness/calorie tracking apps and disordered eating patterns. At the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health, Jane participated in the Health Warning Study, assisting in the research on the placement of warning labels on sugar sweetened beverages, including various preparatory and administrative tasks.
