Felipe is interested in mechatronics engineering, an interdisciplinary field combining mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering. He was born in Mizan Aman, Ethiopia, on August 30, 1990. For his education, he attended Mizan 2 and Mizan 1 for elementary and primary education from 2002 to 2010. From 2011 to 2013, he attended Mizan Aman High School and Addis Ababa Bright Future for his high school education. Felipe holds a five-year Bachelor of Science degree in Electromechanical (Mechatronics) Engineering from Hawassa University, obtained in 2016, and a Master of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, earned in 2019. WORK EXPERIENCE:

The user served as an Assistant Professor at the Birsa Institute of Technology Sindri, Dhanbad under MHRD, TEQIP III from January 4, 2018, to July 20, 2019, with a consolidated monthly pay of 70,000 INR. PROJECTS AND R&D:

The user has been involved in several research projects, including a collaborative project under TEQIP III, National Project Implementation Unit (NPIU), MHRD, titled “Design and Development of TEG integrated charcoal cookstove,” where they served as the Principal Investigator. This project has been completed. Additionally, they are leading a DST SEED sponsored research project titled “Design and Development of Solar Photo Voltaic Powered Cane Slicing machine,” which has a funding of 2,411,720 INR and is currently ongoing. Furthermore, the user is a Co-Principal Investigator in a DST Science Technology and Innovation Hub sponsored research project titled “Establishment of Science, Technology and Innovation Hub in NIT Silchar, Cachar, Assam, for the socio-economic upliftment of SC/ST population in Assam,” which has a funding of 14,437,843 INR and is also ongoing.

TRAINING/PROGRAM/COURSE/WORKSHOP COMPLETED;

The user has undertaken various training programs and workshops to enhance their skills and knowledge. This includes a training program in Embedded Systems at Bhartiya Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi, spanning 6 weeks from 2nd June to 11th July 2008. Additionally, they completed field training in the Planning and Technology Department – Geographical Information System (GIS) at North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi, Shakti Nagar, New Delhi. This training, focused on the project ‘Study on the need, importance, and utilization of GIS in Electric distribution utility,’ lasted for 8 weeks from 4th June to 4th August 2009. Furthermore, the user participated in a technical capacity-building workshop on ‘Kitchen Performance Test (KPT)’ for Testing Of Cookstove Performance contributing to Clean Indoor Air. This workshop was jointly organized by Winrock International, Berkely Air Monitoring Group, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), USA, and took place in Ahmedabad, India, over 5 days from 5th to 9th August.

NEW LABORATORY EXPERIMENTS/DESIGN EXPERIMENTS INTRODUCED:

The user has an extensive background in the design and implementation of Thermo Electric Generator (TEG) technology in cookstoves, showcasing their expertise in the field. They have designed a prototype of a cookstove embedded with TEG and subsequently produced numerous TEG stoves. Their work also involved comprehensive testing of TEGs while mounted on stoves, focusing on parameters such as current, power, voltage, temperature, and others. Additionally, they have designed various electrical circuits and topologies for utilizing TEGs with stoves, demonstrating their proficiency in both hardware and system design.

Furthermore, the user has utilized the generated power from TEGs for practical applications such as charging mobile phones and other batteries. They have also designed LED lighting systems powered directly by TEG-generated power and have explored the dual capability of charging batteries from TEGs.
