Hassan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Science and Environment from Hodeidah University, achieved between 2009 and 2013. He has certificates in Waste Water Treatment (Feb 2013), Problem Solving & Decision Making (Aug 2013) from Sana’a, Yemen, Policies and Practices for Climate Change Adaptation from Kenya Forestry and Research Institute (Oct 2015), Environmental Impact Assessment (July 2018), and Monitoring and Evaluation (April 2019).

Research Projects:

Hassan Osman Hassan has worked on several research projects, including “Implication of Water Policy on Coastal Pollution: A Case Study of Mogadishu Coast,” which is currently under review for publication in Spring. He has also contributed to “The First Assessment of Marine Litter on the Somalian Coast: The Case of Liido Beach, Mogadishu,” which has been accepted for publication in Heliyon. Additionally, Hassan has conducted research on the evaluation of mangrove cover at Haruunia Area using remote sensing and GIS, as well as on the factors influencing effective solid waste management in Gabiley Municipality.

work Expereince:

From December 2022 to November 2023, Hassan Osman Hassan served as the Project Coordinator at the Somali Disaster Management Agency. In this role, he coordinated humanitarian assistance and protection activities in multiple camps or settlements, ensuring compliance with national and international environmental standards and legal frameworks. Hassan designed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) strategy, standards, contingency plans, and information management system. He also facilitated the participation of affected populations in planning, implementation, and monitoring of CCCM activities, supported the establishment and maintenance of dignity and living standards for displaced populations, collaborated with other sectors, partners, authorities, and stakeholders involved in CCCM operations, and provided technical support, capacity building, training, and guidance to CCCM staff and partners.

Mr. Kennedy Kipkoech is a career Biostatistician and Modeler with 14 years of experience in research and policy at health research institutions and government agencies. Prof Dr Hicham Harrass has a Doctorate in Physical Sciences and Engineering, specializing in Medical Physics and Radioprotection, obtained from the Faculty of Sciences Semlalia, Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakech, from 2013 to 2019. His thesis was titled “Contribution to the determination of doses of alpha, beta, and gamma radiation received by patients and medical personnel following the handling of radiopharmaceuticals in a nuclear medicine department.” He also holds a Master’s degree in Computer Physics from the Faculty of Sciences, Rabat, from 2009 to 2011, a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the Faculty of Sciences, Rabat, obtained in 2008-2009, a Diploma of Aptitude from the Royal Gendarmerie, Royal Gendarmerie School, Marrakech, from 2005 to 2007, a DEUG in Physics from the Polydisciplinary Faculty, Taza, from 2003 to 2005, and a Baccalaureate in Experimental Sciences from Sidi Azzouz High School, Taza, obtained in 2003.

Experience:

Since January 18, 2021, Prof Dr Hicham Harrass has been a Biophysics Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca, Hassan II University, Casablanca. He has also been a Guest Lecturer at IPSITS in Casablanca since June 1, 2023. From February 1, 2020, to March 29, 2020, he worked as a Medical Physicist in the nuclear medicine department at Clinique Errahma in Marrakech. He completed an internship in the nuclear medicine department at the Oncology and Hematology Center, Med VI University Hospital in Marrakech, from December 25, 2019, to January 25, 2020. From 2012 to 2019, he taught “Environmental Protection” at the Royal Gendarmerie School in Marrakech. In 2018-2019, he worked as a Guest Lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences Semlalia in Marrakech, conducting practical work in nuclear physics and analytical mechanics for SMP5. He also completed a one-month internship in the radiotherapy department at the Oncology and Hematology Center of the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech from July 1, 2018, to August 1, 2018.

On May 31, 2022, Prof Dr Hicham Harrass was a speaker at the scientific day of the Laboratory of Immuno-Genetics and Human Pathology on the theme “Modern Biotechnologies in Biomedicine.” The title of his conference was “Simulation using the GATE platform in medical physics,” held at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca. On April 11, 2021, he was a scientific speaker at the conference organized by USMBA and AMSSNUR on the theme “Nuclear and Health.” The title of his presentation was “Medical applications of ionizing radiation,” held at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Fès.

From 2016 to 2020, Prof Dr Hicham Harrass underwent English training at the American Language Center in Marrakech. In February 2019, he completed additional training in Information and Communication Technology.
