He furthered his studies at the same institution, completing a Master of Engineering in Information Processing from April 1998 to March 2000, focusing on Multiuser Detection for DS-CDMA Mobile Communication Systems under the guidance of Professor Hiroshi Suzuki. Dr. Quek’s academic pursuits led him to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from September 2002 to February 2008. His doctoral research centered on Efficient Approaches to Robust and Cooperative Wireless Network Design, mentored by Professor Moe Z. Win.

Prior to this, Dr. Quek was appointed as the Director of the Future Communications R&D Programme at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in May 2021. He also served as the Interim Programme Director for the Design and Artificial Intelligence Programme at SUTD from April 2020 to December 2020. In March 2020, Dr. Quek was appointed as a Full Professor in the Information Systems Technology and Design Pillar at SUTD, where he currently holds the position of Head of Pillar.
