Dr. Hema Achyuthan has a rich teaching experience of 27 years. She joined Anna University as a Lecturer on December 4, 1991, and served as a Professor from 2008 until 2017. From 2018 to 2021, she was designated as a Professor Emeritus Scientist at CSIR. Since 2021, she has been serving as a Professor Emeritus Honorary at the Institute of Ocean Management (IOM), Anna University, Chennai. With 32 years of research experience, Dr. Hema Achyuthan has made significant contributions to the field of Geology. Her expertise and dedication have earned her recognition and esteemed positions in academia.

Research & Teaching Position:

In 1988, Dr. Achyuthan became the Principal Investigator for a Young Scientist Programme sponsored by DST, leading the project until 1990. She continued her research journey as a CSIR Research Associate from July to November 1991. Dr. Hema Achyuthan joined Anna University on December 3, 1991, as a Lecturer. She progressed in her career, serving as a Senior Lecturer from December 4, 1996, and then as an Assistant Professor from December 4, 2000. She attained the position of Professor in August 2008 and served in this role until May 2017. During her tenure at Anna University, she also took on leadership roles, serving as the Director of the Centre for Empowerment of Women from 2009 to 2015. Additionally, from 2012 to 2015, she served as the Professor and Head of the Department of Geology at Anna University, Chennai.

My tenure as an Environmental Consultant at Kayson Company, Iran (2000-2005) provided me with practical insights into environmental management. Additionally, as the task manager for water in the Karoon River under the World Bank Project (2003-2004), I honed my skills in project management and environmental conservation. My involvement as a member reviewing environmental research proposals for the Power Ministry (2002-2005) deepened my understanding of research processes. Prof. Gholamreza Asadollahfardi has made significant contributions in the field of environmental research and management. His work includes a comprehensive study of the adsorption and accumulation of cadmium in various vegetables and fruits, with a subsequent modeling of cadmium in one of these specimens, completed in collaboration with the Power Ministry in July 2008. Additionally, he applied Artificial Neural Network techniques to predict salinity in the Vanier station of the Talekh river in Iran, also in partnership with the Power Ministry and completed in 2008. His expertise extends to analyzing surface water quality using Bayesian time series and assessing existing water quality stations in the Karoon River, both in collaboration with the Power Ministry.
